Wstatic Welectricity Wednesday

To create today's title, I am exercising poetic licence. I will have an extra ticket for any student who can tell me what that means!  I hope that you've guessed that we visited the Science Lab today.  We ran some tests to learn about static electricity.  Safwan seems to already know quite a bit about this topic.  Tonight's homework will help us understand what was happening in the lab. Why did the salt stick to the plastic wrap?  Why didn't the paper clip stick?  When we "charged" the wrap, what was happening?

Math was another big topic today.  We dedicated the first hour to answering questions and working out problems from the Review Test.  Then, we took the test.  Most kids have noticed that the problems on the actual test are very similar to the review.  The context and numbers change, but that is about it. Make sure that you are really studying the review test!

This evening at home....

  • Do Readers Notebook pp. 150-151
  • Read and complete the questions on the science handout.
  • Use what you learned on the science handout to complete today's lab sheet.
  • Work in the PARCC Math Book. Complete pages 1 and 2.
  • Don't forget to read and record.
  • Don't forget to bring Ivan to school tomorrow.
