Ready to learn more about the first people in Illinois?
Who were they? How did they get here? How did they live?
After Reading, you will create a Vocabulary Mind Map
Step one: Read and annotate the First People section. Be on the lookout for the vocabulary words.
Step two: Think about how the words are connected. Can you form them into groups? Which words "go" together? Make a list. abandon, archaeologists, Asia, bison,
carbon dating, ceremonies, continent, culture, descendants, dwellings, Great Lakes, mammoths, minerals, North America, prairie, prehistoric, proposal,
raided, sacred.
Step 3: Create an illustrated Mind Map that tells the story of the First People using the vocabulary words. Your mind map should be highly visual.
