Think Central Information

Hello 201 Families,

It seems that my Think Central Class list was deleted.  This is why so many students did not have access to the library.   I have now fixed the problem and Team201 should be up and running.  Some of the resources that are available are:
  • animated math models that "show" math concepts in action
  • remediation activities for those needing extra support
  • advanced work for those ready to pick up the pace
  • the Science Fusion text
  • Interactive Science Fusion online labs.
  • The Storytown text
  • Storytown grammar practice worksheets
  • Storytown spelling practice worksheets
  • Storytown practice workbook (grammar, spelling, vocabulary and focus skill work)
There are so many resources here, and we clearly can't get to every single one of them in class!
Please note the the Go Math book is not the book we use in class.  This is a newer edition that reflects the nation's new Common Core Standards.  It is a great resource!

Remember, your username is your student id number, and the password is chicago.

If you are having problems logging on, please let me know!

Taking Apart Plants Tuesday

Today we....
  • dissected flowers in the Science Lab.  We identified the stamen, anther, pistil, stem, petal and leaf.  We were able to extract chlorophyll from the leaves and observe this green pigment.  Some of the students observed the tubes in the stem that show that these flowers are vascular plants. Thank you Caitlyn and Whitley for bringing in the ferns.
  • participated in reading workshop.  Some students met with Mrs. Ginn, others finalized their "escape plans" or created mini-books in response to reading non fiction text about plant and animal life cycles.
  • took a trip to the Southeast.  Most students noticed that this region's highlights contain more natural landmarks and less industry than the northeast.  We will continue our note taking tomorrow.
  • shared our Super 6 reading strategies Artful Expressions.  Some students created houses.  Another wrote about here strategies in the shape of a brick.  Another students put her work inside the letters PIG.  There we so many creative ideas, and they all reflected the events in the story.
  • prepared for our chapter 5 math test, which is scheduled for tomorrow!
Tonight at home:
