Glued to Our Work Wednesday

Thank you, Lucy, for providing today's very creative and appropriate title.  Today we....

  • discussed the Jamestown Settlement and how " a clash of cultures" resulted in conflicts between the Native Americans and European settlers.
  • we spent some more time modeling multiplication and division.  Students should be able to build models that represent the divisor, dividend, quotient and remainder.
  • read two selections that feature snakes. This week's story is a funny one!
  • discussed the differences between cirrus, stratus, and cumulus clouds. Students used cotton balls to model each type of cloud.
  • worked on our ST Math goals.

Reminders:

  • 201 will visit the Book Fair tomorrow!
  • We will not take a regular reading test this week. Because it is a short week, students will work with partners to tackle the comprehension questions, find the evidence, and select the correct answer.  We will be working on analyzing the text, but we will use double the brain power to do it.
  • Please make sure that your child is filling out the reading log each night.  Students should be reading for pleasure each night!
  • Please sign your child's Gold Card. This lets me know that you are up-to-date- on assignments and possible missing work.

Tonight at home.....

  • Complete the MY Math homework and unfinished classwork that is in the folder.  Students MUST write an equation and make a model for each problem.
  • Reread this week's story: Dear Mr. Winston and write a one to two paragraph response that answers the "Analyze Text" questions. These questions can be found on pages 264 and 269.  Make sure to back up your ideas with evidence from the text.
