This evening at home....
complete the homework and practice for Go Math lesson 7.9
There was some strong input for today's title, but I think that the final credit goes to Erick. Sarit suggested Free Reading Friday, or something similar, which also would be a good title for today.
Today we...
watched some of our classmates get homework passes for getting a written confirmation about last night's reading. I am sorry that I have to be a stickler about requiring the note, but I do. We spent a great deal of time on Thursday about "owning" responsibility for tasks.

Parents, I know how busy you are! It is your child's responsibility to remember to read and to ask you for the confirmation note. I encourage them to check the blog when they get home to confirm that they have completed each task. Most kids do need some support with this.
Today we spent some time brushing up on routines and transitions. We need to get to our reading and math groups quickly so that we are ready to learn. I think that we have got it!

-read your Book Buffet book or another book of your choice for 25 minutes. Bus reading does not count. Parents, please write a quick note on paper or on the Gold Card that reads, " I can visually confirm that my child read for 25 minutes." Thank you, Amanie, for today's title!

It was a beautiful day at the North Park Village Nature Center! Thanks for sending your kids all bundled up today. We hiked in the snow, we learned about the "Sugar Bush." Thank you to all the parents who joined us today!
Reminders/Notes...
-Please note that the "figurative language" Valentines box is not optional. If you do not have a box or bag at home, just decorate a sheet of paper, making sure to include all of the elements. Second, and third, copies of the directions were handed out today.
-Report Cards are going home today! Please sign the card and return to indicate that you have seen the card. I will then give it back! I wish that we had parent-teacher conferences every quarter. If you would like to discuss your child's progress, please do not hesitate to call or write. We can hold a phone or a face to face meeting.
-There are 28 students in our class!
-Please assemble Valentines at home. We won't have time to do this in class.

I am glad that you kids won't have to wait at the bus stop! We checked the cubbies for snow boots this afternoon. I hope you got yours! As I mentioned today, I do have a few tasks for you this weekend!
1.Yes, you still need to do tonight's Text to Text and math homework. I will expect to see it on Monday.
2.If possible, please log on to Think Central and take the Life and Times of the Ant test. I will not get a chance to assign it until later tonight or tomorrow morning. You may, and SHOULD, use the text to help you with the comprehension. This will keep us on pace to begin something new next week.
3. Please read the next story, Riding Freedom, in Journeys. Be prepared to complete an entrance ticket. You may count this reading on your log.
4. Please do the evens for lesson 7.2. This is all about adding "unit fractions." We talked about it today. I am adding a video to help you understand the material. If you want to do all of the problems, I will have an alternate/challenge activity for you on Monday.

-Complete the Text to Text activity on page 431. Your response should be about a paragraph. It should include examples from both texts.
-Go Math hw and practice for lesson 7.1.
-The Northeast Brochure is due on Monday. Kids are bringing home the NE magazine and the template. Most have made a strong start. Don't forget: captions should be informative and 2 or more sentences. Spelling counts! Neatness counts!

It is great to be back in 201 today. We are working hard to prepare for Wednesday's Chapter 6 Math test. Last week, several days were dedicated to review. Today, I met with each child in a small group. I will do the same tomorrow, and kids will have the opportunity to ask questions about the homework.
