Weekend Update

Greetings Team 201 and 202  Families...

Here is some news you can use!
-Next week, we will begin a new novel study. We will be reading  Rick Roiden's Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief.   Most of the reading will take place during school.  Kids are welcome to read ahead, but must commit to staying with us during class and rereading sections in order to do class and homework. I have a strict "no spoilers" policy.   If you are able to purchase or borrow the book, great! If not, there is a pdf version linked on this blog. Go to the "Mythology" tab and click on the PJATLT link. Voila!
-There is no school for students next Friday, 11/8 or Monday 11/10. The 8th is a "School Improvement Day" for teachers and staff, and Monday is Veteran's Day.
-Report Card Conferences are scheduled for 11/13. I will be sending out a Sign Up Genius link so that you can make an appointment online.  Because of time constraints, you will meet with your homeroom teacher. Ms. Hicks and I will make sure to conference so that we can provide feedback on both math and reading. Please be on the look out for the sign up sheet. I will send out a notice when it is live. I am waiting for CPS to confirm dates and times.
-Next week, we will continue to use Journey's Antarctic Journal as our anchor text. We will NOT take a spelling test, but we will take a comprehension and vocabulary test on Thursday.
